Old Soul In Glenora

Large Renovation

“The result is a sumptuous, layered, light-filled, fresh home that feels like it’s always been this way.”

This little bungalow needed a lot of love, also known as demo and re-do, when I first went to see it with the client and realtor. Much of it was dated, dark and dingy. But the client said, “The house feels so good in its bones”, so she bought it and I was charged with transforming it into something fresh, light and airy.

My mission was to create better flow, fix the crumbling and cracked foundation, change the exterior and the front entry roofline, change the staircase, add new windows to maximize the light, and configure all of the spaces so they would function beautifully. In addition my client had lived in Europe for over 20 years and she wanted her home to reflect a beautiful European aesthetic not feel like a hollow, new house. This house needed to have soul, feel established yet fresh.

We used a beautiful, subtle, textural, plaster finish on the walls, added silk draperies, re-used the original wood flooring, interior doors and hardware and incorporated antique pieces. The result is a sumptuous, layered, light-filled, fresh home that feels like it’s always been this way. This home is inviting from the moment you walk into the large front entry.
